Medical Officer (m/f/d) - National position

Malteser International (MI) is working in Myanmar since 2001, Malteser International currently employs more than 350 national staff in Rakhine, Shan and Kayin states, where our work aims at ensuring communities have access to primary health care services. We also offer comprehensive WASH and disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation solutions, and provide relief after disasters. MI strives to enable and empower the most vulnerable communities in marginalized areas through a participatory and sustainable approach.


 

 

Responsibilities:

• Travel frequently to villages in the project’s area to ensure timely on-site implementation of project’s activities
• Together with the project’s team to elaborate and submit to PM and PC monthly work plan including transportation means for implementation of project’s activities
• To provide training to project’s team according to the identified needs within the project’s context, mainly on nutrition services to ensure the strong capacity of project field teams
• To provide trainings to CHW, AMW on Nutrition services (IYCF, IMAM) such as acute malnutrition screening, growth monitoring, referral, and follow up visits
• To provide best possible clinical management - patient care, quality diagnosis and drug management, by following standard guidelines for STI, HIV/AIDS, OI etc.
• To support the project’s team by provision of supervision and coaching on-the-job training in the office or field visits
• In coordination with project’s team, to elaborate data collection and monitoring tools for AMW, CHW, Mother-to-Mother support groups, BHS and project’s team activities

Qualifications:

• Licensed medical doctor
• Previous 4 years’ experiences working with teams in a community health program for a least 2 years
• Previous experience in cooperating and negotiating with the government will be an asset
• Understands challenges faced by rural communities in relation to poor health and lack of knowledge
• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to deal with the local communities
• Experience working with UN or NGO will be an asset

Conditions:

• Start date: As soon as possible
• Duty Station: Mong Pyin and Mong Khat Townships, Eastern Shan State, Myanmar
• Duration of contract: Until 31st Dec 2019 (extendable)
• Salary according to qualification and experience: 14th month salary & health insurance
