Background

 

Under the Overall guidance of the Administrative Officer, and under the direct supervision of the National Camp manager, the ESS Assistant attends a range of Electrical Duties / Services ensuring contact supply of power, provision technical advice as well as provision of general repair and maintenance of the generators.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Camp Manager the incumbent will undertake the below tasks;

  • Ensure stable Power in the compound
  • Starting the generator
  • Switching off and on the generators in the Compound
  • Fixing of compound faulty security Lights
  • Supervise power connection and digging trenches from time to time
  • General Wiring in the Compound
  • Checking generator oil levels for generators
  • Supervising refueling of generators, maintained clean Generator areas
  • Liaise with the City power to ensure the compound is connected to the city power whenever it is required
  • Changeover of generators
  • Record daily generators fuel usage
  • General Maintenance water system and Plumbing work in the Compound
  • Work with contractors to ensure quality services on Miner repairs in the compound
  • Oversee Purification of water for the offices
  • Supervise giving Purified water to OCHA Offices and other Agencies by cleaners
  • Water tank supervision, and filling water tank if
  • Check, supervise sewage levels, waste water (Grey Water) and ensure that it is being removed whenever it is full
  • Checking the ablution units to make sure they are cleaned, repair broken taps, and supervise repair of broken or damaged toilets
  • Ensure that Compound containers are in good order and initiate repair when necessary
  • Service all Air conditioners in the compound
  • Oversee compound cleaning and ensure collection of Rubbish is properly done in the compound
  • Supervise compound cleaners and casual laborer’s as well as technical electrical works
  • Support the procurement section in purchasing, collecting invoices for required items
  • Any other duty assigned to him/her by the supervisors;

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Secondary education.  Certification in administration desirable. University Degree in Business or Public Administration desirable, but it is not a requirement.
 
Experience:
 
3 years of relevant experience Ability to work independently under minimum supervision
 
English Requirements:

Fluency in one of the UN languages and the national language of the duty station.
