Background

The Dialogue Coordination Mechanism - Phase III (the Mechanism) facilitates interaction between the stakeholders and communities on both sides of the conflict divide. The overall objective of the Mechanism is to preserve and further improve the enabling environment for ongoing dialogue and engagement between Tbilisi and Sukhumi. This includes provision of “one-stop shop” clearance for joint activities across the conflict divide, support in transportation of medical and other essential goods as well as facilitation of dialogue and liaison between the sides.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Under supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent performs the following functions on the continual basis and is responsible for:
  • Provide reliable and secure driving services by:
    • Driving office vehicle(s) for transporting project staff and consultants and, if required UNDP and other authorized personnel;
    • Meeting official personnel and visitors as needed.
  • Proper day-to-day operation and maintenance of the assigned vehicle:
    • Keep the vehicle clean and in full operational condition at all times;
    • Update and keep accurate records of the vehicle log;
    • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned project vehicle through timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes;
    •  car washing, refueling, etc. as well as undertake minor repairs;
    • Ensure timely arrangements in case major repairs of the assigned project vehicle are needed;
    • Ensure that all required documents including vehicle insurance, logs, maps, are available and updated;
    • Ensure that all required supplies, such as the first aid kit, fire extinguisher, radios and required spare parts are in working condition.
  • Adhering to all safety regulations and rules:
    • Ensure safe parking of the assigned vehicle on predetermined parking spot after the working day;
    • Ensure that all actions required by UN rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
  • Secondary Education;
  • Bachelor's degree in any technical area will be an advantage.
Experience:
  • Holding a valid and clean driver's license;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of driving a 4x4 vehicles is a must;
  • Driving experience with international organization will be an asset;
  • Experience in dealing with logistics will be an asset;
  • Safe driving record;
  • Skills in minor vehicle repairs.
Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in Russian;
  • Knowledge of English is an advantage.
