Job Description

Job Overview/Summary: The Guard responsibility is to control access and provide protection services to IRC staff, visitors and assets. Ensure that all visitors and guests are escorted while in IRC community center under PRoL / CP program. The Guard & Receptionist will work under the supervision of the protection support officer and technical supervision under security and safety Officer.

Major Responsibilities:

  • To assure the security and safety of personnel and property at the IRC community center to which assigned by the immediate supervisor, during all of the hours of the working shift.
  • Maintain a security watch throughout the assigned shift.
  • Conduct regular rounds, in keeping with security directives.
  • To ensure that unauthorized personnel are not permitted to enter IRC community center.
  • In the event that no IRC personnel are present, to ensure that the community center remain secure against theft or damage and that persons who are not authorized do not enter the premises and /or remove any items.
  • In the event of security problems, to assist fully in the security of the community center for the safety of property and personnel and if necessary to assist in the evacuation of personnel and property if directed by the immediate supervisor.
  • To prevent unauthorized removal of property or belongings of IRC (or IRC personnel) from the community center or from vehicles parked outside the premises.
  • Where necessary and requested by IRC personnel, assist in removing persons, non-violently from the premises.
  • To ensure that during the working shift, the watchmen remain able to check the gate and premises fence areas to ensure that unauthorized persons do not enter the premises.
  • To ensure that at all time the gates for persons and vehicles remain closed and bolted, except when allowing permitted persons or vehicles to enter the premises and that the gates are then immediately closed and bolted.
  • To assist in the general operation of the community center in such items as turning on the water pump, assisting in loading and unloading vehicles, assisting in general maintenance, assisting in running the generator and maintaining it etc.
  • Strictly follow the watchmen duty schedule each month.
  • To at all times respect and implement the principles, directions and security requirements of IRC.
  • Represent IRC in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working environment:

  • Strict adherence to the IRC’s Security policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a security watch throughout the assigned shift
  • Maintain security logs, in keeping with IRC policies and procedures.
  • Maintainingthe guarding area clean, monitor the provision of main electricity ,starting and stopping the IRC Generator as outlined within IRC policy’s Additional carefully hours of generators and notify Logistic officer when generator requires a service
  • Conduct regular rounds, in keeping with security directives.
  • Note and Report problems ,including suspicious activates ,behaviors and maintenance concerns

Qualifications

  • Team Spirit and problem solving abilities
  • Preferably previous training in the first aid, security guards training course
  • Able to carry out limited ,unsupervised tasks
  • Guards must display attitude and behavior the reflects well on both themselves and the IRC

Education: at least high school

Work Experience: Minimum two year’s work as professional guard

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Highly preferably previous experience with NGOs in the safety and security field

Language Skills:Arabic
