Construction Engineer (m/f/d)

Since 2017, Malteser has supported drug donations to Yei Civil Hospital.  Malteser International is currently renovating the Yei TB ward and the WASH facilities with support from the 2-year German-funded humanitarian assistance intervention in Yei, South Sudan.










In support of our work in South Sudan, Malteser International is looking for a motivated South Sudan based Construction Engineer (m/f/d) - National position.
 
The Construction Site Engineer will be supervising the renovation of the Yei TB Ward and adjacent WASH facilities in Yei Hospital, Yei River State.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise the construction in accordance with the national labour laws, and Malteser International rules and regulations
• Prepare weekly inputs to progress/implementation report
• Supervise contractors/sub-contractors
• Keep close contact with the Malteser International Program Manager, Technical Coordinator and logistics personnel
• Control and ensure that the standard construction procedures and tools are utilized properly
• Support and strengthen the administrative capacity of new and existing partners to ensure their operations meet Malteser International and donor rules and regulations
• Monitor activities by using standard monitoring tools to measure regularly (minimum monthly) the project construction performance
• Provide advice and solutions to improve the performance of the construction activities and contribute to the achievement of set goals
• Evaluate on a regular basis the quality and performance by utilizing the standard grid
• Produce and submit to the management periodic activity reports and a standard construction monitoring report including the relevant analysis
• Produce analysis, documents and reports upon the request of management
• Inform immediately management of any facts that can have serious impact on the construction activities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil & structural engineering
• 3 years’ experience in designing and construction of buildings. Previous experience of renovation of health facilities highly desirable
• Experience in supervision of large scale works is an added advantage
• Willing to work and live in Yei for 3 months
• Good Communicational skills (written and spoken)
• Good organizational and supervisory skills
• Computer skills (E-Mail, spread-sheets, Word, databases, job-related software, etc.)

Conditions:

• Starting date: as soon as possible (July2019)
• Duty station:  Yei, South Sudan
• Duration of contract: 3 Months
• Salary according to qualification and experience
