Job Purpose:
Advocacy for Health & Nutrition is a part of our ambitions to tackle undernutrition and prevent deaths of children under 5 due to preventable diseases. This position will put health and nutrition at the very centre of development, and scaling up of successful interventions a high priority agenda. Advocate for enhanced political and financial commitments to health and nutrition for children in India.

Advocacy & Policy Initiatives
 
  • Strategy and planning: Contribute to the implementation of a national advocacy strategy on Health & Nutrition. Lead on sub-strategies, or elements of strategy implementation.
  • Identify and lead strategic and creative communications opportunities to amplify the message on health and nutrition
  • Monitor and report internally on the performance of the health & nutrition advocacy portfolio
  • Sector knowledge and profile-building by keep abreast of developments within the advocacy, nutrition, maternal and child health and international development sectors
  • Partnerships and Stakeholder Management with the government, network and forums and manage ongoing partnerships effectively and sensitively to achieve common objectives.

Essential on Arrival - Educational /Professional Qualification & Experience:
  • A Master’s in Development Studies from a recognised university is essential.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the field of child rights.
What we want:
  • Prior experience of working with NGO, advocacy organisations with focus on Health and Nutrition for children.
  • Ability to establish new contacts and maintain existing relationships with key policy influencers.
  • Prior experience of preparing policy briefs and child rights budget analysis.
  • Strong written skills and ability to speak effectively in public meetings and represent SC’s views
  • Convincing interpersonal communication skills to be persuasive both internally & externally.
  • Understanding of the broad landscape of international development issues and specific child rights policies on child protection, education, health and nutrition, and disaster risk reduction and emergencies.
  • Understanding of the global healthcare agenda. Understanding of children’s agenda around health and nutrition. Experience of advocacy with children.
  • Prior experience of having organized advocacy initiatives in collaboration with children.
  • Commitment to SC’s mission, values and approach (includes child safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety).
