Organization Description

The Andrew Goodman Foundation’s goal is to increase youth voting rates by supporting youth leadership development, voting turnout and accessibility, and social justice initiatives on higher education campuses across the country with financial assistance to student activists and mini-grants to select higher education institutions.

Full-Time Position - Development Manager

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Lead the creation and implementation of AGF’s annual Development Plan.

·       Manage our donor database and improve existing systems.

·       Ensure donor and prospect strategies and communications are updated in CRM database.

·       Track donor metrics to inform departmental goals and strategies.

·       Initiate efforts to diversify The AGF’s funding from foundations, individual donors corporations and events.

·       Write and track grant proposals and reports.

·       Research donor prospects, initiate donor appreciation and cultivation activities, draft donor appeals, and organize direct mail, e-mail, and social media campaigns.

·       Assist with the planning and execution of cultivation and donor-appreciation events.

·       Evaluate the success of each development strategy.

·       Assist on special assignments to ensure long-term donor engagement and retention.

·       Work to align the Managing Director’s, Executive Director’s and President’s calendar with fundraising objectives.

·       Draft regular correspondence to existing and prospective donors and stakeholders.

·       Oversee the work of junior Communications and Development staff by providing direction, input, and feedback.

·       Assist with implementing AGF’s Communications Plan to elevate our brand and increase visibility, specifically focusing on donor communications.

·       Create content for donor engagement mailings and e-blasts, including newsletters and the annual report.

·       Occasionally write content for the organization’s website and external audiences.

·       Write articulately about The AGF, its history, and mission.

·       Uphold excellence in both written and verbal communications, as well as a dedication to superior customer service.

Required Skills

·       Bachelor’s or higher degree or equivalent work experience

·       3-5+ years of fundraising and development experience

·       Demonstrated success in donor stewardship and closing four and five figure gifts

·       Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

·       Strong organizational and administrative skills, with a demonstrated track record of establishing effective systems that foster collaboration and improve efficiency

·       Commitment to transparency, accountability, and direct communication

·       Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines

·       Ability to manage with highly sensitive, confidential information using excellent judgment at all times

Desired Skills

·       Strong familiarity with the NY / NJ philanthropic community

·       Experience working in a national organization


Other Requirements

·       Pass a criminal background check

·       Daily access to a smartphone

·       Have access to a car

·       Extremely reliable, available on evenings/weekends for occasional events and travel
