Individual Consultancy to support SMS-based communication service for two-way communication with beneficiaries. (Nepalese Nationals only)

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical support to UNICEF Nepal and partners to run the SMS-based communication and monitoring service for the cash transfer programme and engagement with youth.

How can you make a difference?

1. Provide technical support to conduct next round of communication of SMS service for real-time monitoring of the Child Grant during June/July
2. Provide capacity building to UNICEF staff required to run the system, setting up, testing and running the system and providing analytics.
3. Participate in a field mission to Province 2 to advice on process for involving and consulting youth on the policy process and develop a RapidPro strategy for Province 2 in consultation with UNICEF and other stakeholders
4. Organize one workshop with partners and/or youth on RapidPro as a tool to engage youth

Deliverables:

• SMS-based survey conducted in Bajhang and Rautahat (3 days)
• Training conducted for UNICEF Nepal staff on Rapid Pro system (4 days)
• Draft Rapid Pro strategy developed for Province 2 (4 days)
• Workshop organized with partners and/or youth/stakeholders on RapidPro (3 days)

Duration of Contract

The duration of this contract is approximately 1.5 months and is expected to begin from 15 July 2019.

Minimum Qualification Required

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical subject;
• At least 2 years of relevant professional work experience in ICT systems, and providing technical support to Government and/or donors on ICT projects;
• Previous direct experience working on SMS for two-way communication with programme beneficiaries would be particularly valuable;
• Previous experience on innovations-related work and working with youth at an advantage;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Nepali required; and
• Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and under tight timelines.
