Finance Manager

Home Based - May require travel (Home Based)

Watsi is a nonprofit that builds technology to administer health financing systems in emerging markets. We put patients first in everything we do, and are committed to helping countries around the world accelerate progress towards universal health coverage.

We’re hiring a Finance Manager to join our team. You will serve as the connection between our organization’s mission and day-to-day financial health. You’ll be responsible for our accounts and bookkeeping, financial management, reporting, compliance, and annual auditing. You’ll spearhead collaboration across our team and implement strategic plans, processes, and policies that support Watsi’s financial goals.

What you'll work on:

  • You’ll be in charge of timely and process-oriented maintenance of Watsi’s books of accounts, preparing monthly financial documents and month-over-month analysis, developing clear metrics, and building out budget to actuals.

  • You’ll ensure that Watsi stays aligned with its financial management policies, procedures, and controls, as well as with various taxes, reporting and audits and craft new policies where needed as we grow.

  • You’ll lead our audit process by organizing, coordinating with, and providing various documents to the auditors.

  • You’ll administer and run payroll and benefits efficiently, and ensure adherence to HR policies and regulatory requirements within a fully distributed, global team.

  • You’ll work with our team to support timely invoicing, expense reporting, and timesheet allocation to projects, including reporting back to team members on actual performance vs. budget.

  • You'll be the keeper of Watsi's present and future financial health, including working closely with our leadership team on pricing strategy, modeling revenue scenarios, and other special projects

  • You will build and maintain relationships with relevant external partner companies, ensuring clear and timely communication with them.

  • You will view your work through the lens of our mission and are excited to look for opportunities to connect the two.

Who you are:

  • You are a CPA and/or have an MA in accounting.

  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an accounting professional (non-profit experience a bonus).

  • You have deep knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks Online/Xero.

  • You are an excellent communicator in both written and spoken English and have mastered the ability to translate financial concepts to a non-finance audience.

  • You love handling all aspects of accounting and leading day to day finance, ideally as the sole individual.

  • You have proven your ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • You have worked in a US registered company and are familiar with the applicable laws and regulations that govern non-profits.

  • You have experience successfully handling payroll for a globally distributed team.
