Watsi is a nonprofit that builds technology to administer health financing systems in emerging markets. We put patients first in everything we do, and are committed to helping countries around the world accelerate progress towards universal health coverage.

We’re hiring an Ethiopia Country Coordinator to support an ongoing tech implementation. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the success of our ongoing implementation by serving as the bridge between Watsi, our partners, and users. You will work across internal and external teams to understand everyone’s needs and ensure the successful rollout of a product built with our users in mind.

What you'll work on:

  • You’ll drive coordination between our team and external partners to promote partner engagement and define technical requirements, deliverables, dependencies, scope, and timelines.

  • You’ll develop trust with users and stakeholders by seeking to understand their needs, relaying feedback to our team, making commitments in line with our resources, and consistently delivering on our promises.

  • You’ll ensure our technology is successfully rolled out by supporting our partners in providing frontline technical support, leading trainings, and mastering and operationalizing our product.

  • You’ll use your deep knowledge of our product features and the high-level direction of our platform to impart knowledge and perspective about our product roadmap to local partners and users.

  • You’ll build a positive relationship between Watsi and our partners, bridging differences in approaches to align on a common understanding of each other’s intentions, strategies, and goals.

  • You’ll coordinate with various teams across the organization, including our Business Development and Implementation teams, to contribute to Watsi's broader strategy in Ethiopia.

  • You’ll help organize logistics for trips to Ethiopia for other Watsi team members.

Who you are:

  • You have at least 5 years of project or program management experience and are familiar with both Waterfall and Agile methods.

  • You are adept at managing technology or data analytics projects.

  • You have a deep knowledge of public health or health informatics and have worked with governments and international organizations in an externally facing role.

  • You are a health systems thinker and love viewing your work through the lens of interactions between product, policy, and operations.

  • You thrive in ambiguous environments and stay calm and productive in the face of complexity.

  • You are based in Addis Ababa, or willing to relocate, and are excited about the opportunity to travel domestically up to 50% of the time (primarily to Tigray), and internationally at least twice a year.

  • You are an excellent communicator in English and Amharic (bonus if Tigrinya).

What to expect at Watsi:

"How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives." — Annie Dillard

  • You will have the opportunity to directly impact people’s ability to access healthcare — all while working with innovative technology to define a new industry.

  • You will work on a globally distributed team spanning three continents and enjoying a flexible schedule, plenty of vacation time, and great benefits.

  • You will collaborate with kind and interesting people — we’re proud to have photographers, surfers, pastry chefs, rock climbers, and dancers in our midst.

  • You will join an organization that strives to build an inclusive culture made up of people as diverse as those we serve — we are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives
