Background

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization working in Myanmar since 2009 in response to cyclone Giri and currently supporting operations in four different States (Kachin, Northern Shan, Kayah, Rakhine). DRC expanded its program to include the provision of shelter, WASH, NFIs, livelihood support and community assistance to the people affected by the June and October 2012 events in Rakhine State. DRC aims to make available immediate relief and protection to displaced people and vulnerable host communities in an impartial, inclusive and neutral manner, adhering to DRC’s Code of Conduct and core Humanitarian Principles

DRC currently manages a total of 8 IDP sites located in Sittwe and Pauktaw townships in which they carry out general site management, coordination of services and build community governance and empowerment of community residents. One activity that all staff members are actively engaged in is data management and obtaining key information from the field.  Within the CCCM team, Kobo Toolkit is used regularly and while staff has an elementary understanding of how to use the software via mobile devices, there is a strong need to build our knowledge in designing forms and assessments using the platform.  Furthermore, there is a pertinent need to ensure that all staff members are aware of the main errors that occur using the software and are adept at troubleshooting and fixing issues independently. CCCM staff members also manage a wide range of field-based workers that are frequently carrying out data collection exercises dependent on kobo form.  The objective from this training is to have all Sittwe-based staff able to provide corresponding trainings to field-based staff and to assist in fixing any problems that occur during data collection exercises.
