NRC in Palestine

In Palestine, NRC provides humanitarian assistance and promotes respect for international law in one of the longest-running displacement crises in modern history. In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza, NRC’s work includes emergency preparedness and response, education, ICLA, protection, shelter and WASH.

Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the Education Coordinator position is to implement delegated Education project portfolio

Generic responsibilities

The education project coordinator is responsible for the management of the education staff and implementation activities

  1. Line management of Education project staff
  2. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  3. Contribute to Education strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps

        4.  Manage and implement delegated portfolio of West Bank education projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from PDM in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality

        5.  Provide regular progress updates to PDM            

        6.  Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist

        7.  Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities

        8.Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills

        9.Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders

        10.Promote the rights of the target group in line with the advocacy strategy

Specific responsibilities

        1.  Coordinate the Education projects in West Bank and set up of weekly structured staff meetings

        2.  Weekly field trip to participate, monitor, provide technical guidance and oversee projects related activities

        3.  Contribute to coordination with relevant external partners, and ensure close collaboration and active engagement of education stakeholders and school community

        4.   Actively engage in the West Bank EiEWG related meetings and events and support the development of education strategy documents

        5.  Contribute to development, management and monitoring of project budgets in cooperation with PDM, HoPO and Grants Coordinator

       6.   Responsible for the development of detailed work plans for education projects

       7.   Responsible for supervision of education activities implementation

       8.   Contribute to new proposals/concept papers (youth, EIE etc) in collaboration with PDM and delivery of quality project reports within set deadlines

      9.    Participate in the recruitment of area project staff for education projects

     10.   Responsible for mapping staff capacity needs, to plan for capacity building initiatives and transferring key skills through on the job training and mentoring

     11.   Ensure that M&E systems and tools are relevant and support the M&E staff to collect and analyse accurate data 

      12.  Responsible for actual vs. budgeted costs and spending plan for allocated education projects to be presented in monthly grant meetings

      13.  Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management

 Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a university graduate in Bachelor’s degree in Education or psychology studies. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the field of education/psycho social learning in education in emergency context. Experience working in complex and volatile contexts, in particular in the West Bank. Fluency in both English and Arabic, both written and verbal. We are particularly looking for an individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels.
