You will be joining a team of around 4,000 staff in the West Bank Field Office working to foster the human development of some 800,000 registered Palestine refugees.••

The incumbent of this post reports directly to the Area Relief and Social Services Officer, under the overall technical supervision and guidance of Field Relief Services Officer.

The main responsibilities include:

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the• incumbent:

•         Conducts desk study and home visits to refugees applying for Social Transfer Assistance (SSNP & Emergency Programms); collects socio-economic data to determine eligibility for assistance, and conducts periodic site re-assessments for active social transfer recipient cases in accordance Relief Services Instructions (RSI) or applicable emergency assistance instructions;

•         Maintains accurate and up-to-date information regarding refugee applying for social transfer assistance, including receiving clients at office, documentation, data entry/modifications on the relevant database, completing social study reports including rejected, approved, and closes cases;

•         Recommends- as per instructions for short-term emergency in kind/ cash assistance- eligibility for families in crises after conducting initial site assessment, and completing all related work process.

•         Follows-up in the timely delivery of approved cash and/or in kind assistance to eligible families to eligible families and follows up on families that failed to collect their due assistance;

•         Implements/participates, as directed, in surveys and studies in the refugees community to analyze socio-economic trends;

•         Performs such other duties as assigned.

Conditions of service•

Monthly basic salary JD 700.90. Other benefits include:

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education

A university degree in social work, sociology or other related field.

Work

experience

At least three years of experience in a humanitarian or development organization, or working in the area of social services.

Language(s)

Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Desirable qualifications:

•         Knowledge of Agency Rules, Regulations, and other UNRWA operating systems and activities;

•         Knowledge of databases and management of IT systems;

•         Possession of a valid driving license;

•         Knowledge of the socio-economic conditions of the Palestine refugees.

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

•         Ability to work under pressure and challenging conditions;

•         Ability to take initiative and maintains cordial relationship with all concerned;

•         Ability to work effectively within a team as well as work independently without close supervision;

•         Ability to conduct and coordinate training and participatory assessment.
