Project Overview:

ICMPDisinvitingallinterestedcandidatestoapplyfortheInternshipfortheEvidence-drivenMigration Governance Policy and Practice in North Africa (eMGPP). The overall objective of this project is to generate,operationaliseanddisseminateknowledge,researchandevidencetoinformandstrengthen

migration policy in North Africa. To this end, the project includes two complementary components: The North Africa Migration Academic Network (NAAMAN). This innovative migration research network will harness expertise throughout the North Africa region to develop and lead national and regional migration research and policy development. While pursuing a focused migration research agenda of their own, NAAMAN will also supply expertise, context and advice to eMGPP’s second component, NOADAC.

North Africa Data Collection (NOADAC). This project component will focus on independent third-party research and data collection complemented by systematic analyses of strategic- level data. This data will be used to better understand and assess the progress made toward the strategic objectives of the European Union Emergency Trust Fund for Stability and Combating the Root Causes of Irregular Migration and the Displaced Persons in Africa (EU TF) in the North of Africa (NOA) and to inform the development of migration policy aimed at promoting better migration governance in the region.

Across the NAAMAN and NOADAC components, eMGPP will generate original research and evidence inrelationtokeymigrationissuesinNorthAfrica,bolsteringknowledgeandunderstandingofirregular migration and effective responses to it, while generating inputs to policy aimed at promoting safe, 1secureandorderlymigrationandsharedmigrationgovernanceintheregion,amongENISPCcountries and the EU.

Please note that this position is subject to approval and availability of project funds. Tasks and Responsibilities:

Assist in preparation of substantive outputs linked to policies and programmes in the field of migration by researching data, collecting inputs, assisting in drafting, compiling and editing; Draft and edit lessons learned articles;

Support the production of internal and external newsletters;

Support the management of communication issues;

Contribute to the development of an annual report, collection of materials and draft contributions;

Support the design of PR products;

Proofread and edit publications;

Update the NAMAAN contact database;

Assistance in administrative matters.

Qualification and Experience

Advance computer literacy in main Microsoft Office applications;

Solid writing, editing, analytical and synthesis skills;

Strong organisational skills, excellent communication skills, attention to detail; Sense of initiative and good interpersonal skills;

Past working experience in a governmental institution or knowledge of the issues; related to the external relations and protocol would be an asset.

Compensation:

ICMPD offers a monthly fee of EUR 500,00, and will provide accident insurance for the duration of the internship. However, travel expenses will not be reimbursed and Health insurance is the responsibility of the incumbent.

The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with ICMPD.

PLEASE NOTE: An intern is not a staff member of ICMPD. An intern who is a non-citizen of the country in which the duty station is situated is responsible for obtaining any necessary visas and for complying with local laws regarding registration with the local authorities.
