Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is initiating implementation of a project entitled “Climate Friendly Agribusiness Value Chains Sector of Myanmar” in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation (MoALI) and the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) with funding from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme (GAFSP). The outcomes of the project\: to create an enabling environment that reduces the incidence of poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition among the rural poor in the project area for three Regions of Central Dry Zone (CDZ).

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Myanmar and the immediate supervision of Team Leader, Assistant FAOR (Programme) and National Project Coordinator.

Tasks and responsibilities\:
  • Drives the official vehicles with due courtesy to other traffic and pedestrians
  • Driver field trips for FAO staff and their official visitors on the official trips
  • Meet FAO staff and official visitors at the airport
  • Facilitates immigration and customs formalities at airport as required
  • Collect and deliver mail, documents, pouches and other communications/items from and to the country office; to the post office, airport, government agencies, other UN agencies, project sites
  • Performance daily, weekly and monthly vehicle servicing and maintenance
  • Timely arrange for any other repairs necessary to keep the vehicle safe and technically sound at all times
  • Maintain the vehicle interior/exterior clean
  • Maintain the vehicle daily log sheets
  • Assist the Project Office in performing simple clerical duties such as making and answering telephone calls, making photocopies, keeping records
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma, possession of valid driver’s license,
  • Good knowledge of the local traffic rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair
  • At least 10 years of experience as a driver, UN or UNGO experience is an asset
  • Oral communication skills in English
  • National of Myanmar
  • Relevant experience with UN agencies, especially FAO, will be considered an asset
