Expert Partner Consultancy and Programming Support*

in Yangon

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until August 31, 2020. Employment location will be Yangon, Myanmar.

As Expert Partner Consultancy and Programming Support you will support and advise local partner organisations of Welthungerhilfe in the implementation of projects and assist in their organisational development. Moreover, you will be expected to professionally support projects and programme teams in the implementation of Welthungerhilfe's partner approach and to lead the elaboration of a context specific partner strategy while promoting and maintaining standardized partnership principles. The position covers a wide range of duties and tasks within the framework of existing country programmes in general and a Multi-Actor-Partnership (MAP) project in consortia with the World Wide Found for Nature (WWF) in particular.

Your responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and elaborate a new multi-country partner approach for Welthungerhilfe in Myanmar/Cambodia in close cooperation with the Head of Programmes and the Country Director
  • Conduct a systematic partner scoping to identify potential future partners including civil society, private sector and academia to establish a partner pool in Myanmar
  • Ensure application and compliance with regard to tools and standards in partner cooperation such as partner assessment tools, design of capacity development plans etc.
  • Ensure and follow up on the implementation of capacity development plans
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and learning between WHH's partner organisations in Myanmar and Cambodia
  • Support partner organisations in fundraising through the development of concept notes and the design of project proposals
  • Facilitate the improvement of the partners' MEAL systems in close coordination with WHH's Expert for MEAL
  • Ensure quality reporting and compliance with donor requirements
  • Represent WHH vis-a-vis civil society and participate in relevant events, forums and platforms (in close coordination with the Head of Programmes)
  • Support civil society actors and national partners, organize and facilitate various events e.g. Review and Learning Processes

Your profile

  • A University or polytechnic degree in a relevant discipline such as social science, business and management, education etc.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in the global south
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team with a high level of tolerance
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding
  • Ability to embrace diversity and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to work goal oriented, independent at times and uphold a high level of accountability
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) as well as facilitation skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English, German is highly welcomed and Burmese and/or Khmer would be an asset
