We Effect is recruiting a Financial Controller  

We Effect is a development organisation founded by the Swedish cooperative movement in 1958 to support the development of democratic organisations and societies. In our international development cooperation programmes, we are applying a human rights-based approach supporting people living in poverty to secure their rights.

We Effect is now recruiting a Financial Controller. The Financial Controller is part of the Finance Unit in the Administrative Department in Stockholm. We Effect shares administrative resources and offices with our sister organisation Vi Agroforestry and some collaboration will occur. 

Main responsibilities 

As Financial Controller you are responsible for ensuring the quality of financial reporting, handling payment of funds to regional offices and reconciliation of the associated balance account. You are responsible for the financial statements, including documentation and coordination with auditors and certain reporting to financiers or other stakeholders. Tasks will include financial compilations, reports and analysis at various levels both in terms of budget, cost outcome and other financial reporting; coordination contact and support to the regions; and continuous bookkeeping, reconciliation and control of ledger documentations. Annual international travels to the organisations' regional and country offices are required. 

The finance system we use is iScala and it is appreciated if you have experience working with it. The position requires continues contact with colleagues and partner from different countries and your tasks will be performed in an international setting, any additional experience working in international organisations or knowledge of Spanish will be of great importance.

Required qualifications

• University degree in finance management or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in qualified financial controlling.
• Experience of financial/business support systems. 
• Advanced knowledge in Excel and good knowledge in Microsoft Office. 
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English. 

Merits

• Experience working in a development organisation or the non-profit sector.
• Experience of wokring with iScala.
• Experience working with Sida CIVSAM, EU or other international donors or institutions. 
• Oral and written communication skills in Spanish or Swedish.
