Organisational Context

The Occupational Health Unit is part of the Division of Management Services within the Registry of the International Criminal Court. It provides a comprehensive occupational health and welfare service for staff that ensures a healthy workplace environment for the Court in The Hague, as well as advice, assistance and support for ICC staff in field activities throughout the world. 


Duties and Responsibilities

The OHU has been tasked with the execution of the Secondary Traumatic  Stress Prevention project for a period of three years. The project includes the execution of a well-being survey with special attention to the presence or risk of development of secondary trauma and burnout. For the duration of the project, the in-house Staff Counsellor, who has been assigned the lead the project, requires a temporary support to carry out the regular duties and responsibilities of his function, as well as for the execution of the project.

Under the supervision of the Head of the  Occupational Health Unit and the guidance of the Staff Counsellor, the incumbent will be responsible for the following: 

  • Provide advice and support to staff members and managers; 
  • Identify a referal network, make assessments and recommendations to external therapists and psychologists of staff members who need it;
  • Develop and conduct welfare programs addressing psychosocial needs, including individual or group briefings, workshops/trainings, team building, etc;  
  • Provide appropriate psychological crisis intervention, referrals and follow-ups for staff members at the Headquarters and in the Country Offices;
  • Collaborate in the realization of Secondary Traumatic Stress Prevention project;
  • Organize and maintain a filing system that will include confidential filing of individual cases and a documentation system of all actions, assessments, etc. in accordance with the standards and procedures established by the Occupational Health Unit
  • Liaise and collaborate with other sections/unit, as appropriate;
  • Maintain professional confidentiality at all times;
  • Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

Education:
Advanced university degree in psychology or clinical psychology is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience is accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
National board registration or active license to practice as psychologist is required.

Experience:
A minimum of five years (seven years with a first-level university degree) of progressively responsible relevant experience in occupational health psychology and/or clinical psychology with experience in employee welfare/mental health programs, conflict management/mediation in the work environment, preferably in an international/multicultural context. 
Experience in the following areas is required: 
-remote counselling (e­health); 
-traumatic stress briefing and debriefing;
Experience in conducting surveys on well-being and mental health in a work place context is desirable.
Experience in conducting trainings and workshops is desirable.

Knowledge of languages:
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, French or English, is required. Working knowledge of the other is highly desirable.  Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) would be considered an asset.
