ABOUT WFP

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.  The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes.  Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

The World Food Programme (WFP) in Mozambique made the transition to the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) in 2017. Through the CSP, WFP Mozambique is committed to assist Shock affected people in the country as to enable them to meet their basic food and nutrition needs during and immediately after a crisis. Gaza Province has been repeatedly affected by seasonal droughts which results in chronic and acute food insecurity that affects thousands of families in more than half of the districts in the province, especially the northern ones. As part of its emergency response in Gaza, WFP Mozambique will cooperate with the local authorities, in particular with INAS, to assist with an unconditional transfer of cash/voucher the most vulnerable and food insecure families, in selected districts. As this is a relatively new approach to what WFP Gaza sub-office has been implementing, and given that the programme is set to start in December 2019 and there are several activities that need to take place before December to ensure a smooth implementation, the sub-office seeks 1 Information Technology Associate (G5) to assist with the set-up of systems, SCOPE management, and other IT-related activities.
