Overall purpose of the role:

Ensure the quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of all technical aspects of Risk Education/Non-Technical Survey activities being implemented by DDG. Develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern, relevant stakeholders and other humanitarian actors, to support adequate implementation and coordination of DDG’s Humanitarian Mine Action activities.

 

Responsibilities: (in bullet points)

 

Programming & Operations

  • Support the RE/NTS team in carrying out daily RE /survey activities and ensure the quality and compliance with national and international standards through daily supervision and sustained presence in the field
  • Ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan
  • Prepare weekly, monthly /reports and report to the line manager timely on implementation progress
  • Lead the team in carrying out monitoring and evaluation exercises

     

    Coordination and representation

  • Coordination and representation with local stakeholders
  • Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts on sector relevant issues
  • Represent DRC at meetings and other relevant technical coordination meetings
  • Ensure integration with other DRC sectors

Logistics/Finance

  • Support the monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up
  • Plan and coordinate proactively logistics and movements of staff from and to different operational areas
  • Initiate procurements and ensure their execution

 

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • 2 years of practical experience in sector area working for an INGO
  • Field and technical experience in Humanitarian Mine Action, preferably RE and/or NTS
  • Previous experience with the National Mine Action Authorities (YEMAC) an advantage
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced spoken English proficiency, intermediary English written proficiency
  • Fluency in Arabic, spoken and written
