Your team

Within the Directorate European Civil-Military Aviation, the Civil-Military Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Unit (CNS) is responsible for activities including the development of civil-military CNS technical guidance and roadmaps, contributions to SESAR, to EASA rule-making tasks. Also, it provides specialised support to national military authorities, other international organisations such as ICAO, EDA, and NATO, and other stakeholders.

Your role

PURPOSE OF THE TRAINEESHIP


The trainee with support initial activities related with the technical/systems component (work area 2) of the EUROCONTROL Mission Trajectory Deployment Initiative (MiDI).


The Mission Trajectory concept supports the integration of military trajectories in the ATM environment. The sharing, processing, exchange and use of planned and actual data related to flight profiles requires harmonised data set, availability of supporting aeronautical data and interoperable systems capable to process and transfer huge amount of data in a secured manner.


The work will focus on two different domains: systems and networks used to exchange and process the improved OAT Flight Plan and synergies with the results of the Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) work on Shared ATS Services, related with remote/virtual ATS provision. Both domains are closely linked.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Understand the concepts of OAT Flight Plan and Shared ATS Services for Military and its system/network implications;

  • Consult military studies, technical documentation and materials ( SESAR, ICAO, EASA)

  • Extract from the available materials all the data and associated processing that shall be considered to support OAT Flight Plan and extensions of Shared ATS Services;

  • Organize the extracted content in a structured and coherent way and by data processing function;

  • Present monthly progress reports in the service.


DESIRED DURATION


From 4 to 7 months.

Your profile


  • Knowledge of technical aspects of Data Processing techniques and technologies;

  • Awareness of the international technical documentation supporting Air Traffic Management (ATM) Data Processing (e.g. ICAO’s Aeronautical Information Service);

  • System engineering skills

  • Ability to work in international organizations

  • Be highly motivated, adaptable and flexible to changing working environment

  • Have strong analytical skills

  • Able to work in a team

  • Good command of English language (including ability to draft documents)

  • Computing skills: Experienced user of Microsoft Office products

  • A flat-rate allowance of €900 per month as a contribution towards living expenses will be granted.

  • Reimbursement of travel expenses to take up appointment and leave may be covered by means of a lump sum.
