OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The IAP's role, mandated by the UN Secretary-General, is to independently review monitoring of country progress and multi-stakeholder accountabilities on the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women's, Children's and Adolescents' Health (2016-30) (Global Strategy), and make recommendations for remedy and action. The achievement of the Strategy's objectives is reviewed in the context of progress on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) overall. The IAP reports to the High-level Steering Group chaired by the UN Secretary-General. Recommendations are addressed to a wide range of stakeholders, including Member States, parliamentarians, the UN System, development cooperation partners, donors, civil society organizations and the private sector. For more detail, please refer to the IAP Terms of Reference and IAP's website\: www.iapewec.org .The IAP is composed of an expert group of internationally-recognized leaders in the field of health and human rights. IAP members are appointed by the UN Secretary-General. To date the IAP has issued three main reports\: Inaugural report, 2017 Report on Transformative Accountability for Adolescents and 2018 Report on Private Sector\: Who is Accountable?

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

- Undertake data and information gathering, literature and document reviews, perform simple analyses, and support the quality assurance reviews (fact checking, validation with key informants etc) for IAP products (reports, editorials, statements, talking points etc);

- Maintain the IAP's Outreach and Advocacy calendar, regularly scan partner and news websites for events of relevance to the IAP and maintain a database of references, and communications messages for different IAP events;

- Prepare updates on delivery of the IAP workplan's milestones, targets and budget, making use of appropriate tracking and information visualization tools;

- Provide logistical support to organize IAP meetings and events, including during the United Nations General Assembly and World Health Assembly. This includes preparing and updating participant lists, drafting invitation and visa letters, and securing meeting locations, travel and hotel reservations for IAP Members and the IAP Secretariat Support IAP meetings and monthly IAP teleconferences; including to schedule calls, compile, file and disseminate background materials, provide support to IAP's correspondence, take and draft meeting notes and ensure timely follow-up on actions agreed;

- Any other duties as needed and appropriate, as agreed with the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential\: First-level university degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences, Business Administration, Law or related studies.
Desirable\: Advanced level university degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, International Relations or specialized training in project management, global public health, human rights or legal analysis or a related field.

Experience

Essential\: Minimum of 2 years professional experience in a support function (research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, preparing meeting notes, drafting letters) or similar responsibility. Experience working with different stakeholders, such as public-private partnerships and within or with countries/country counterparts. Experience in organizing events, preparing talking points and communicating with diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience at the international level.
Desirable\: Experience in a global health related field or governance, accountability mechanisms. Broad knowledge of WHO and/or UN system, policies and procedures

Skills

Delivery of high-quality and timely work. Ability to collect, review and analyze information as an input to written products. Experience working with standard office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and maintaining databases. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including writing skills (meeting notes, letters etc.). Efficient time management of multiple work streams. Good organizational abilities to plan and deliver quality work in a timely manner. Proactive and taking initiative as well as collaborating a member of a team. Experience working with issues related to women's, children's and adolescents' health and accountability processes and mechanisms.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 47,322 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 3013 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
