Seeking Chief of Party Candidates for the USAID/Jordan Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity

Position Description: GRI is seeking candidates to serve as Chief of Party for USAID's
anticipated the Jordan Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity (WEELA),
which is intended to support U.S. Government’s efforts to contribute to increasing women’s
access to employment in Jordan. WEELA will improve women’s access to job markets, enhance
the workforce enabling environment, and address inequalities and prohibitive social norms and
traditions. The Chief of Party will be responsible for overall strategic and operational
coordination of program activities. S/he should have a comprehensive understanding of issues
women’s economic empowerment issues, strong management experience, interpersonal skills,
and experience in budgeting and financial management.

Position is contingent upon project award.

Responsibilities: The Chief of Party will bear primary responsibility for overall leadership,
project planning and implementation, and ensuring timely and high-quality expertise and
deliverables for USAID. S/he will serve as the primary point of contact to USAID and contribute
to successful, positive relationship with USAID and Mission representatives and other key
stakeholders. The Chief of Party will be accountable for both the quality of the project, as well as
for its effective financial and operational management. S/he will manage a team of technical
staff, organizational partners and short-term consultants. The Chief of Party is responsible for
achieving the expected results of the project and solving problems that may arise.

Qualifications:

  • In one or more of the following areas, proven technical experience in emerging markets in:
    • Partnering with the private sector to improve women’s access to job opportunities
      and leadership opportunities
    • Engaging communities to gain family acceptance of women’s work
    • Improving the policy and regulatory environment to improve workplace safety, equity,
      and inclusion for women, youth, and persons with disabilities
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of program management and supervisory experience with a US
    Government foreign affairs agency, international assistance organization, or non-
    governmental organization
  • Minimum of five (5) years of field experience working in the Middle East, preferably Jordan
  • Proven success liaising with high level representatives from the public and private sectors
  • Ability and interest to live and work in Aman, Jordan
  • Fluency in Arabic preferred
