Seeking Deputy Chief of Party Candidates for the USAID/Jordan Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity

Position Description: GRI is seeking candidates to serve as Deputy Chief of Party for USAID's anticipated the Jordan Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity (WEELA), which is intended to support U.S. Government’s efforts to contribute to increasing women’s access to employment in Jordan. WEELA will improve women’s access to job markets, enhance the workforce enabling environment, and address inequalities and prohibitive social norms and traditions. The Deputy Chief of Party will support the overall strategic and operational coordination of program activities. S/he should have a comprehensive understanding of women’s economic empowerment issues, strong management experience, interpersonal skills, and experience in budgeting and financial management.

Responsibilities: The Deputy Chief of Party will play a leadership role in managing project planning and implementation and ensuring timely and high-quality expertise and deliverables for USAID. The Deputy Chief of Party will manage a team of technical staff, organizational partners and short-term consultants.

Qualifications:

  • In one or more of the following areas, proven technical experience in emerging markets in:

    -Partnering with the private sector to improve women’s access to job opportunities and leadership opportunities

    -Engaging communities to gain family acceptance of women’s work

    -Improving the policy and regulatory environment to improve workplace safety, equity, and inclusion for women, youth, and persons with disabilities

  • Minimum of five (5) years of program management and supervisory experience with a US Government foreign affairs agency, international assistance organization, or non-governmental organization

  • Proven success liaising with high level representatives from the public and private sectors

  • Ability and interest to live and work in Aman, Jordan

  • Fluency in Arabic required
