Peace and Security Cluster

The UNOPS Peace and Security Cluster (PSC) is a principal service provider in the field of mine action with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), UNDP, UNICEF, Governments of mine-affected countries and other mine action partners. The Head of Cluster is responsible to administer, provide support and oversight of the day-to-day management of the Project Field offices, both according to the client requirements and in line with UNOPS rules and regulations. It is headed by the Head of Cluster who has the overall authority and accountability for the performance of the Peace and Security Cluster on behalf of its clients.

One of the main objectives of the Peace and Security Cluster is to rapidly deploy project personnel to the field. To accomplish this, it has established a Pool of Experts, from which it deploys and re-deploys personnel in order to fulfil personnel vacancies.  A Pool of Experts is a roster of specialists whose technical knowledge and personal suitability has been evaluated and approved in advance, allowing them to be deployed on short notice and in short order.   Pool members can be deployed on any of UNOPS contract modalities: FTA, TA, or I-ICA (International Individual Contractor Agreement).

Under the supervision of the Head of Global Communications, your duties and responsibilities will be to:

  • Contribute to UNMAS social media campaigns 
  • Participate in developing outreach assets for fundraising 
  • Provide social media training to programme officers
  • Contribute to the creation, editing, and distribution of videos 
  • Produce audio-visual contents for UNMAS social media 
  • Collaborate in the production of audio-visual interactive story map for UNMAS programmes
  • Support in the production of audio-visual multimedia content for ongoing UNMAS social media campaigns
  • Support in maintaining and enhancing UNMAS YouTube Channel outreach
  • Assist the Communications team in ensuring strategic priorities and corporate identity is served by the audio-visual products created, in line with the UNMAS communications strategy
  • Provide editorial guidance and ensure that messages conveyed through audio-visual products are sharp, compelling and current
  • Generate a variety of standard statistical and other reports on social media reach
  • Provide software and office equipment support
  • Provide support in the maintenance of websites by scanning, converting and posting a variety of documents onto the UNMAS and E_MINE websites.
  • Participate in the preparation of presentation materials using appropriate technology/software
  • Draft reports, articles, press releases and promotional blurbs
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned



Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education
  • Advanced-level University Degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in Communications, Audio-visual Studies, or related field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience; OR
  • First-level University Degree (Bachelor's Degree or equivalent) in Communications, Audio-visual Studies, or related field with a minimum of four years of relevant experience

Experience

  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in Communications, Audio-Visual Arts, or related field

  • Experience in Audio-Visual Arts or Film Productions is required

Languages

  • Fluency in English (read, write, speak) is required. 
  • Fluency in Arabic, French, or Spanish is desired.

Contract type, level and duration

  1. Contract type : International Individual Contractor Agreement (IICA). This is a Retainer Contract. The incumbents will be called upon to work as needed.
  2. Contract level : ICS-9 (equivalent to a P2 level; this is not a staff contract)
  3. Contract duration : One year initially, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability
