You will be joining a team of around 3000 staff in the Lebanon Field Office working to foster the human development registered Palestine refugees.••

The Port Operations Officer will be responsible for:

The main responsibilities include:

Correlates shipping information prior to the arrival of goods and maintains up-to-date SAP records thereafter. Arranges for Customs exemptions and prepares all necessary documents to facilitate the imports to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Customs Offices of the Host Government; Ensures that goods are efficiently and safely cleared from port or transit locations, surveys problematic shipments; raises claims, documents and other reports necessary for claim and record purposes; Undertakes and controls port payments, the upkeep of accurate records of all transactions made• and prepares reports and correspondence as required;••••• Arranges the safe dispatch of supplies and equipment from ports to supply destination; Plans and supervises receipt of Agency-sponsored supplies at ports' temporary storage in the port area, if and when required; coordinates the survey of UNRWA vehicles with Customs Authority and observes the scraping process of the vehicles under the Customs supervision. Arranges with local authorities, port and customs clearance of all Agency supplies including personal effects of UNRWA staff.• Ensures minimum storage period to avoid unnecessary charges; Administers the Agency's contracts with the clearing agents, ensures the application of their provisions and that services are rendered satisfactorily; Arranges for quality control inspection of supplies upon receipt at port in coordination with the Materials Inspector; Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Conditions of service•

Fixed Term Appointment, Grade 14

Monthly basic salary L.L 2,211,858 + Special Occupancy Allowance (SOA) 4.02%.

Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education

A university degree in Business Administration or in any field related to the above functions;

Work

experience

At least four years' experience in Supply, Port and Customs Operation and/or commercial shipping/forwarding company including demonstrated experience with commercial port operations;

Language(s)

Very good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

Proficiency in the Agency standard computer applications; Thorough knowledge of local government import/export customs, local shipping business and commercial practices; Familiarity with insurance matters.
