UNICEF Liberia is seeking a qualified Consultant to support the sectors of Social Protection, Education and Agriculture to implement nutrition sensitive interventions essential for stunting reduction.

Purpose of Assignment:

To support the sectors of social protection, education, agriculture implement nutrition sensitive interventions essential for stunting reduction.

Basic objectives of consultancy/contractor (assignment) services (2-5 Objectives).

  • To support the Ministries for Education, Agriculture and Gender to implement nutrition sensitive interventions.

  1. Operational research protocol for the accompanying measures for the LSSN completed. (Liaison with Havard researchers).
  1. Field visit to monitor implementation progress across sector(s).

  1. Materials for ethical approval compiled and submitted to the Independent Review Board.
  1. Technical Working Group for the operational research on cash transfer and nutrition education constituted.

 

31st May 2020

  1. Field visit to monitor implementation progress across sector(s).
  1. Operational research baseline assessment completed.

30th June 2020

  1. Orientation of stakeholders on the operational research completed.
  1. Final report on pilot testing of nutrition for school age children and adolescents.

Qualification or specialized knowledge/experience/expertise required for the assignment:

Academic qualifications.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Social Science, Public Health, health Education/promotion or related technical field.
  • Experience in implementing programs in Liaison with Ministry of health.
  • Necessary Experience.
  • At least a minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience of working in nutrition and at least one years working on Nutrition Sensitive Interventions; additional years of experience will be an added advantage. Experience in implementing programs in liaison with Government ministries with be an added advantage.
  • Other necessary/desirable skills/qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel and work in field environments.
  • Other requirements: 
  • Candidate must be a Liberian national.
  • Interested applicants must submit a cover letter together with their CV.

General Terms and Conditions of the Contract:

  • Under the consultancy agreements, payment is deliverable based as defined in the ToR.
  • All remuneration must be within the contract agreement.
  • No contract may commence unless the contract is signed by both UNICEF and the consultant or Contractor.
  • For international consultants outside the duty station, signed contracts must be sent by fax or email. 
  • Unless authorized, UNICEF will buy the tickets for the consultant.  In exceptional cases, the consultant may be authorized to buy their travel tickets and shall be reimbursed at the “most economical and direct route” but this must be agreed to beforehand.
  • Consultants will not have supervisory responsibilities or authority on UNICEF budget.
  • Consultant will work closely with the Ministry of Health to conduct the study.
  • Consultant will be required to sign the Health statement for consultants/Individual contractor prior to taking up the assignment, and to document that they have appropriate health insurance, including Medical Evacuation.
  • Mention is it as per the General Terms and Conditions of the Contract.
  • Mention “Grace Period” for submission of deliverables, after which payment will not be processed.
