Social Solutions International, Inc. (Social Solutions) is pursuing a USAID-funded civil society strengthening program in Timor-Leste. The goal of this program is to build the capacity of select NGOs in Timor-Leste in terms of organizational development, evidence-based decision-making, financial capacity, networking capabilities, and advocacy with both constituents and governmental stakeholders. The RFP has been officially released, with responses due at end of November. Anticipated start date of the program is TBD. This position is contingent upon funding. 

Responsibilities

Social Solutions is recruiting for a Chief of Party for this anticipated activity. The COP will play a lead role in interacting with senior GOTL officials, other donors, and leaders of all beneficiary NGOs. The COP is responsible for making major implementation decisions and reporting to USAID/Timor-Leste.

Qualifications

  • At least a Master’s degree in a related field of study
  • At least 10 years of strong working experience, preferably in managing non-governmental organization strengthening activities
  • Work experience in advocacy, government relations, and capacity building with NGOs
  • Demonstrated ability to establish productive relationships with senior government officials, the private sector, civil society, and donor community
  • Proven leadership, management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in Timor-Leste or in the region is highly preferred
  • Knowledge about political, socio-economic aspects of Timor-Leste is preferred
  • English language fluency required, with excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Portuguese or Tetun, and Indonesian competency an advantage
