KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (One)

The Senior Programme Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the SM (School Meals) Programme Officer and the overall supervision of the Coordinator of school meals and nutrition and will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide support in the implementation of the School Meals (SM) activities all over the country in coordination with the respective focal points at each state/ project level and with all the stakeholders participating in the project (Federal/State Ministry of Education, involved line ministries and Cooperation/Education Partners) to ensure smooth/quality implementation.
  • Undertake technical reviews of proposals submitted by cooperating partners and support liaison between units in the implementation of SM projects (e.g. Nutrition, Field Local Agreement, Vulnerability Assessment and Mapping, Logistics Unit, Resources Management Unit ... etc.);
  • Participates in developing the annual operational plan for all SM related activities implemented/ supported by WFP.
  • Prepare and disseminate timely analytical and critical reports on the operational progress, based on the data collected from the AOs/SOs, including proposals for improvements in operation and the scope of programmes;
  • Ensures the effective use of the corporate monitoring systems (COMET e.t.c) in consultation with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E ) Unit and prepares monthly reports for all SM activities.
  • In collaboration with the AOs and M&E unit, provide technical support when needed for Government/WFP staff on the use of the monitoring tools including the storage and school logbooks.
  • Ensure that AOs/SOs monthly monitoring plan are maintained, effected and reports received and work with them to collect Annual Country Report (ACR) data
Key Accountabilities (Two)
  • Support in undertaking regular programme performance reviews of SM activities in consultation with Programme unit, Area Offices (AOs), Sub Office (SOs) and Cooperating Partners (CPs).
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the programme database including, FLAs data, invoice tracking, monthly plan/actual distributions, the number of plan/actual beneficiaries by gender by locality by state, projects outputs and outcomes, and all data relating to programme performance and review challenges and provide feedback accordingly.
  • Assist in developing and roll out implementation guidelines for SM in the AOs.
  • Assist in building capacities of Government staff to enable them efficiently manage the WFP SM programme and the pilots/initiatives, including Nutrition Sensitive Programmes (NSPs), Dry Take Home Ration (DTHR)/or Voucher modality, and Micronutrient Programme (MNP)
  • Ensure training targets and timelines are met
  • Attend and or facilitate coordination meetings on SM issues with FMoE/SM stakeholders and line ministries
  • Assist in attend regular meetings involving the education sector and related SM issues as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Completion of secondary school education and a post-secondary certificate or diploma in the related functional area and five years of working experience in a related field.

Language: Fluency in both English and Arabic.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES:

• Has expereince working with technical teams in the area of nutrition, Vulnerabilily Assessment and Mapping, etc;
• Has participated in the implementation of organisational assistance programmes;
• Has observed, assisted or participated in program policy discussions.

OTHERS:

Organized, complete and precise/accurate reports, records and/or data put together independently with only minimum guidance and supervision, use of own desertion to address unforeseen situation seeking advice from and or reporting to supervisor as applicable.
