ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING

Under the current strategic framework of the Centre, one of the Programme Department’s focus is applying inter-religious dialogue for peace and reconciliation in CAR. Together with the local partners in CAR, the Centre engages with leaders of religious communities, policy makers and interreligious dialogue platforms to enhance and track outcomes in three targeted sectors: interreligious dialogue platform performance, interreligious dialogue for peace and reconciliation, and intra-religious dialogue within the major faith traditions in the Central African Republic.

ROLE

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, CAR, and close collaboration with the Country Expert, CAR, the primary role of the Project Officer is to assist the Country Expert in the daily engagement with local implementing partners and in the direct implementation of some of the activities supported by KAICIID.

FUNCTIONS

  • Provide inputs for the establishment of programme proposals, draft programme narratives, budgets and costing sheets and contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of all programme-related activities;
  • Engage with KAICIID Fellows and identify proposals for the active involvement in KAICIID-led activities in CAR;
  • Organise relevant workshops, trainings and events, including facilitation and/or moderation when required,  contribute to identify appropriate venue, accommodation, participants, key experts, facilitators, and panellists; compile lists of participants, prepare reports, workshop recommendations, ensure necessary follow-ups and appropriate evaluation;
  • Liaise with partner organisations to ensure a sound financial management of activities supported by KAICIID;
  • Support the organisation of monitoring missions to CAR by KAICIID staff, including high-level representatives;
  • Contribute to the evaluation of proposals under small grants schemes;
  • Provide input to the design and implementation of regional activities;
  • Ensure regular update of workplans and results-based management framework of the CAR programme and report regularly on its implementation;
  • Support media and visibility initiatives of the CAR programme, including initiating draft social media posts, press statements and short publications (in English and French) on KAICIID’s work in the CAR;
  • Perform any other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Political Science, Cultural Studies, Social Studies, Development Studies, Business Administration or any related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience as a project manager, preferably in an international setting; previous work on Interreligious Dialogue is an asset;
  • A good knowledge of all the aspects of the conflict in the region and its cultural, religious and social characteristics;
  • Knowledge of and experience with monitoring and evaluation framework(s);
  • Excellent communication and networking skills; ability to interact independently with religious leaders;
  • Excellent writing skills, with analytical capacity and ability to interpret data, draw statistics from evaluations and synthesize data in preparation of quality reports.
  • Excellent planning and administrative skills including budget monitoring;
  • Cross-cultural and interreligious sensitivity;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office;
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities;
  • Receptiveness to feedback and willingness to learn and embrace continuous improvement;
  • Commitment to KAICIID core values;
  • Commitment to highest ethical standards and human rights.

LANGUAGES

English and French proficiency (written and spoken). Knowledge of any other major languages desirable.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

The selected candidate will be offered a consultancy contract for a period of 6 months. KAICIID will offer a monthly fee based on the United Nations salary scale for the National Professionals (75% of NOA scale) applicable in CAR.
