Reporting to the Executive Director, the Data Protection Officer – Head of Data Protection Office is responsible for: ● Managing the Data Protection Office; ● Ensuring compliance with the applicable legal regime in the area of data protection also in the context of the Agency’s potential decentralisation of functions; ● Informing and advising data controllers, data processors and staff members who carry out processing operations in the course of their obligations pursuant to the applicable legal regime in place for EU institutions, bodies and agencies including the assignment of responsibilities and the related audits; ● Monitoring compliance with, raising awareness and providing training on the applicable legal regime in place for EU institutions, bodies and agencies, with internal data protection provisions and with the policies of the controller or processor in relation to the protection of personal data; ● Ensuring that data subjects are informed of their rights and obligations; ● Where requested, providing advice as regards to personal data breaches; ● Where requested, providing advice as regards the data protection impact assessment and monitoring its performance or the need for prior consultation of the data protection impact assessment; ● Consulting with the European Data Protection Supervisor on the need for a data protection impact assessment or on the need for a prior consultation; ● Preparing and drafting templates, guidelines and procedures for different processing operations, including data protection impact assessments; ● Responding to requests from the European Data Protection Supervisor, cooperating with and consulting at the request of the supervisory authority or on the data protection officer’s own initiative; ● Ensuring that the rights and freedoms of data subjects are not adversely affected by processing operations.
