The private sector fundraising section exist to inspire tens of thousands of people – from individuals to large corporates – to support our quest for change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them reach their full potential.

As new projects officers you will report to the Chief of Private Sector Fundraising and together lead on the exploration, prototyping and scaling of new fundraising products / projects.

The primary purpose of FR Officer (Innovation & Special Projects) position is to collaboratively develop new fundraising products / channels / approaches for UNICEF Thailand.

More specifically, the focus of position are:

  1. Take an insight led approach, developing exciting new fundraising propositions which will engage and inspire our audiences and generate income to create positive change for children.
  2. Oversee a portfolio of innovation projects, leading on the exploration, development and piloting of high potential fundraising products that meet UNICEF Thailand’s strategic objectives.
  3. Work collaboratively with colleagues through the new product development process, ensuring best practice is maintained and that a culture of innovation is embedded at all levels of the organisation.

 

Major Responsibilities

Generating and acting on insight

  • Use, commission and undertake desk research around our supporters, key trends and competitors to identify potential new offers.
  • Work with internal teams and external partners to generate insight that can be shared across teams and factored in to decision making.
  • Participate in the annual audit of the fundraising product portfolio to identify potential gaps within our product portfolio.

Product innovation and pilots

Using an end to end process of innovation, working with internal and external stakeholders to develop new propositions and opportunities:

  • Develop focused briefs for each potential new product, ensuring strategic relevance and clear objectives.
  • Commission and undertake research around our supporters, key trends and competitors to identify potential new offers, and share relevant information across sections.
  • Use supporter insight to facilitate the generation of exciting and fresh ideas, ensuring buy in and engagement from internal stakeholders at all times.
  • Identify and test disruptive innovation pilots based on organizational strategic priorities and opportunity assessments (e.g., P2P, new channel, Ideal Donor Experience, Digital, Donor Experience).
  • Based on approval from the supervisor, select and deploy appropriate prototype or piloting techniques to test and iterate ideas.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to manage operational risks associated with innovation, including a strategy to ‘fail fast, fail small’.
  • Seek support for internal investment and for successful products to be incorporated into the portfolio.
  • Work with relevant teams to scale up and fully launch a product to market.
  • Utilize expertise, ideas and resources from other UNICEF innovation teams and global innovation platform.

Commitment to continuing professional development including scouting and advising on new market trends and opportunities in the not-for-profit and commercial sectors.

 

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • Advanced university degree in Marketing, Business or other relevant disciplines **University degree in relevant field and 2 years of direct working experience may be considered in lieu of advanced university degree.
  • A minimum one year of direct professional working experience in marketing and innovation with responsibility for developing and delivering business-building products services, and/or experiences.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work for yourself and others and manage internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of managing complex cross-organisational projects or setting up and delivering a new service, product or proposition to market.
  • Strong background of preparing plans for complex projects, including risk planning.
  • The ability to perform well under pressure with strong problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Robust knowledge of project management tools.
  • Familiar with writing and pitching business cases for funding.
  • Thai Nationals only.
  • Excellent communication skill in Thai and English (Written and verbal) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic short, and long-term plan of action, with clear audience, targets, and activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work multi-sectorally, to develop plans that require the involvement of multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Meeting UNICEF’s core values and competency areas.
