OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMMEThe mission of the EPG Unit is to mobilize political will and resources, build strategic alliances and partnerships, manage external relations, coordinate the work of the Regional Committee and enhance the contributions of delegations of the African Region to the work of WHO's Governing Bodies in support of the achievement of regional health goals. The Unit manages WHO/AFRO's relationship with the international community by contributing to the positioning of the Organization's regional health priorities into the agenda of the international community and in positioning the Organization to attain technical and strategic recognition within the regional setting.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESUnder the supervision of the Coordinator, External Relations, Partnerships and Governing Bodies Unit, the incumbent will undertake the following tasks\:--> Undertake donor research, produce and update donor profiles, and maintain the External Relations and Governing Bodies SharePoint; --> Provide periodic reporting to management on donors by programme areas and analysis from donor/partner databases;--> Assist departments and teams in the development of quality proposals, preparation of grant agreements; timely reporting; disbursement requests, no-cost extension and other relevant correspondence as relevant; --> Guide and advise AFRO' technical units on their engagements with partners and particularly non-State actors--> Develop websites and resource mobilization platforms;--> Liaise with the Communication, Advocacy and Media Unit in supporting departments and teams to increase visibility of their work vis-a-vis the donor community;--> Support operating procedures by liaising with respective business owners to secure the required clearance, including legal and financial clearances for proposals and donor agreements before signature. Perform other related responsibilities as assigned, including replacing and backstopping for others as required.
EducationEssential\: University degree in public health, business administration, management, communications, international relations or a related field.
ExperienceEssential\: At least five (5) years' experience working in grant management, donor funding, proposal development, and resource mobilization. At least three (3) years' experience working in database development and management, data analysis and data reporting.
Desirable\: Experience in WHO, other UN agencies or in similar field.
SkillsGood communications, negotiations, resource mobilization, public relations and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of partnership development and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment. Ability to establish and maintain partnerships at organizational, local and international levels. Excellent analytical and writing skills.

REMUNERATIONWHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 60,233 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 2821 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
