Expert Quality Management (Focus Rural Development)*

in Kirundo

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Kirundo with frequent trips to Muyinga, Burundi.

As Expert Quality Management you will contribute to a project that is part of a vast European Commission funded programme (TUBEHO-NEZA) and aims at enhancing the resilience of the most vulnerable population groups in Burundi. The project will focus on food security, nutrition, and social cohesion. Within the project, Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is the leading consortium of 3 international NGOs, including Concern Worldwide-CWW and International Rescue Committee -IRC. As such, WHH is responsible for the implementation of the planned measures. The focus of this position is to lead the technical implementation of the activities related to rural development.

Your responsibilities

  • Planning rural development activities
  • Developing technical tools for the implementation of agricultural activities in 3 provinces
  • Elaborating the terms of reference for the agricultural activities (technical design for their implementation)
  • Training/Coaching technical teams (agronomists) in techniques suitable for the activities planned in the catalogue
  • Monitoring the execution of the work planned in the 3 provinces regularly and proactively proposing corrective measures
  • Assessing the capacity of staff in the 3 provinces and ensuring that they are well informed at any time
  • Actively cooperating with local technical services and ensuring their participation in ongoing activities
  • Actively participating in thematic coordination meetings (cluster groups, provincial coordination, etc.)
  • Writing donor reports

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant field like agriculture and/or rural development
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience, preferably working in the global south
  • Sound knowledge of EU regulations and priorities
  • Ability to work under high pressure and difficult living and working conditions
  • Intercultural competence and ability to work in a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in French and high-level English skills are mandatory
