Working for the Division of Human Resources (DHR), the consultant will support a range of career development, performance management and learning programmes for UNICEF staff. The Performance Management and Career Development (PMCD) Section has a continuing mandate to design and deliver targeted learning initiatives, provide career and performance coaching expertise to UNICEF staff.

How can you make a difference?
Working for the Division of Human Resources in the Performance Management and Career Development Section (OMCD), the consultant will support a range of performance management, career development and coaching programmes for UNICEF staff members at all levels across the organization, including senior leaders.
Topics may include but are not limited to: identifying specific areas for development and career growth, 360 debriefs, coaching, creating goals that are mutually agreed upon and measurable, outlining next steps (timeline and resources), reviewing written applications, conducting mock interviews, and guiding staff members through job search/career transitions.
The project(s) will involve a combination of the following, based on consultant background and needs expressed by UNICEF staff and HR focal points for each of the respective areas noted above:
Coaching:
- Provide individual and group/team coaching interventions in the context of individual/team effectiveness, career management, performance improvement, transition coaching, leadership and 360 debriefs.
- Work with coachee’s to craft realistic individual development plans
- Ensure follow up as appropriate to measure progress and/or take corrective action.
Workshops:
- Design Learning & Development programmes to ensure alignment with organizational strategy. Projects may be related to various areas of HR, such as HR Capacity Building/Recruitment and Selection, Performance Management, Organizational Development and Career Development.
- Develop learning materials to support the delivery of learning programmes
- Facilitate workshops/webinars and team events
International Travel: Consultants may be requested to travel internationally to UNICEF Country or Regional Offices for the delivery of various workshops.
Deliverables:
Coordinating with DHR/PMCD on timeframes and strategy, the individual will:
- Provide staff members with individual/group/team coaching sessions (via telephone, in person, or Skype) on career management, transition coaching, 360 debriefs, general and/or performance improvement, as assigned.
- Review applications and/or resumes, PHPs, provide interview support, guide staff members through the job search process and an agreed upon action plan.
- Travel globally to facilitate workshops in performance management, career development, team interventions, and ToT’s (Training of Trainers).
- Design presentation slides, workbooks and/or short user guides to accompany the development of learning interventions as required
- Submit monthly invoice with relevant receipts for travel.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
a) Education
- University degree in Human Resources Management, Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, International Relations or a relevant field.
- For Coaching and 360 Assessments, a recognized coaching certificate is required
b) Work experience
- A minimum of eight years of experience in coaching, facilitation and/or learning and development;
- Expertise in facilitation of workshops, client orientation, and excellent understanding of career development and performance management programmes, training materials;
- Expertise in designing and developing learning materials/resources/guidelines;
- Experience working in/for multilateral institutions.
