Purpose and Objectives

The main purpose of the Innovation and Technology for Development Consultant is to support the Oman Country Office’s programmatic goals. The role aims to achieve this by supporting two key programme delivery functions:

 

  1. Programme delivery focal point to oversee and manage Innovation and Technology for Development projects as part of the overall programme portfolio. 
  2. Support office management by facilitating programme outcome requirements, as well as key operational tasks enabling successful programme delivery.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Scope of Work – Tasks & Expected Deliverables

  1. Assist the Country Representative with overall coordination of T4D and innovation programmes
  2. Assist the Country Representative with partnerships outreach and campaigns  

 

  • Compliance with policy, process and procedure in accordance with Regional and Global standards ensured
  •  Develop the annual work plan, maintain and monitor outputs to ensure programme objectives are being achieved in a timely manner

 

  1. Act as the focal point and key accountable person for Innovation and Technology for development projects in the UNICEF Oman Country Office Programme portfolio
  • Work with Internal and External Stakeholder to define programme requirements and the scope level of involvement for each party
  • Provide strategic execution planning for programme delivery
  • Work with stakeholders to define project budget and funding requirements
  • Manage and Co-ordinate a multi discipline project team to deliver assigned programme’s in accordance with programmatic outcome requirements.

 

  • Successful delivery of all aspects of the assigned programme ensured.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders develop performance targets and ensure the continued communication of milestones via programme status reports and progress / alignment meetings.
  • Establish Programme risk register, & mitigations plans. Update, communicate, and close out programme risks.
  • Ensure a unified vision for successful programme outcomes as defined by the programme charter / Strategic vision document.
  • Create the programme ‘Road Map’
  • Compilation of programme budgets and all other elements of cost control to ensure sufficient and accurate information is provided to the person responsible for securing project funding
  • Successful implementation of agreed scope of work, to the agreed schedule, cost, quality, willfull organizational, stakeholder engagement and alignment
  • Completion of tasks to be delivered in a timely manner

 

 

 

 

Adminstrative requirements

  • The Technology and Innovation Consultancy will be required to report on a daily basis to the Supervisor. The Technology and Innovation Consultancy will be entitled to the same work hours, weekends & UN holiday schedule as UNICEF staff, based on the work schedule agreed with the Supervisor.
  • The Technology and Innovation Consultancy will arrange his/her own insurance, such as life, health and other forms of insurance, covering the term of this contract when in Oman, and will provide proof of insurance.
  • Any in-country travel related to a work assignment will be arranged for and covered by UNICEF.
  • UNICEF will not provide the Technology and Innovation Consultancy with any equipment, unless it is approved by Operation Unit with the completion of the appropriate forms.

 

qualificationS & Specialized knowledge

  • Completed undergraduate or higher university education in a field related to business, IT and/or operations.
  • Understanding of ICT, data applications and supplies chain management/ logistics is an asset  
  • At least 4yrs of relevant work experience
  • Reasonable knowledge of Government of Oman laws, policies and programmes addressing children’s rights
  • Knowledge of UNICEF’s mandate is considered an asset.
  • Excellent, organizational, communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of Omani culture, traditions and communication protocols.
  • Programme experience in Health, Innovation, Human Resources and Logistics is considered an asset.
