Organizational Context

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a work of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuit order), incorporated as an international non-governmental organisation with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people.  The organisation was founded in November 1980 and now has a presence in over 50 countries. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support and guidance of an international office (IO) in Rome.   JRS works in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term well-being of refugees and displaced people while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs.

 

Operational Context

The IT Assistant, Financial Systems, based in Rome, will support the International, Regional and Country offices with technical and operational activities with the Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP), as a bridge between the IT and the Finance Department. 

 

Key Responsibilities

The IT Assistant will be responsible for providing operational and technical support with a focus on the financial realm supporting the ERP development on site as well as remotely. He/she will provide assistance in implementing the new financial system, processes and workflows related to accounting, budgeting, reporting and auditing. In particular, she/he will: 

o Assist with the development and roll out of the financial module of JRS ERP system globally 

o Detect, analyse and correct data and software errors and bugs and provide inputs to recommend solutions

o Support with staff training in loco and remotely 

o Assist with the implementation and development of dashboards and monitoring tool with Power BI tool

o Customize the system in accordance with country specific needs, thus ensuring consistency across countries

o Monitor and check the quality of data in the system, to ensure compliance with JRS policies and accounting standards

o Support the Country Finance Teams in preparing for and conducting annual external audits and financial reviews 

o Conduct review of accounting procedures and provide inputs to make recommendations for improvement in financial processes 

o Undertake other related duties as required

 

Qualification and Competencies

o University degree in Computer Science or related areas 

o At least three (3) years of experience working with software development

o Knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures related to accounting, financial controls and financial information systems

o Knowledge of Financial analysis, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, budget development, and forecasting

o Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Business Central, Business Intelligence tools and Share-point, SQL Server, C/AL programming languages

o Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

o Knowledge and/or experience with CRM systems

o Excellent written and spoken English

o Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural, international, professional environment

 

Desirable

o Working knowledge of other languages (Italian, French, Spanish)

o Previous work experience with faith-based organizations

 

Travel

o The position requires travel to JRS country offices (50%).

Terms and Conditions 

Please note that this position is only open to candidates who possess EU citizenships or other legal authorizations to work in the European Union.

Contract is for one year, renewable with an initial probationary period of 3 months.  The JRS remuneration policy is aligned with the JRS ethos to offer effective and professional services and at the same time express solidarity with the people served. Benefits and compensation package will be discussed with short-listed candidates. The salary range starts from Euro 25.000 per annum.
