Job Description

The Development Coordinator (DC) will contribute to several aspects of the IRC in Tucson development portfolio. Specifically, the DC is responsible for fundraising with a focus on unrestricted donations; soliciting and managing contributions in-kind (CIK); overseeing the Tucson intern and volunteer program; meeting match requirements for multiple grants; private donor cultivation; private grant proposal development; initiating outreach activities; event planning and community outreach. The Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring all private funding channels and ensuring good stewardship of resources. The DC reports to the Development Manager, Arizona.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a development strategy including fundraising; identification of unrestricted and private funding opportunities; proposal development and submission; and private donor cultivation.

  • Coordinate the preparation of letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets and reports to local foundations, corporations and other potential donors.

  • Manage the Volunteer/Intern program; supervise one Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps member.

  • Oversee the acquisition of in-kind donations and ensure grant match requirements are met.

  • Oversee inventory management to ensure IRC Tucson is in compliance with IRC regulations.

  • Oversee individual donor cultivation and response by maintaining records on contributions, donor acknowledgments, engagement and communication.

  • Oversee the creation and production of annual appeals, monthly solicitation, cultivation materials and daily gift acknowledgements; engage current and prospective donors and deepen donor commitment.

  • In collaboration with Phoenix Community Engagement Coordinator, coordinate production and distribution of communications materials including brochures, monthly newsletters, social media and website updates.

  • Serve as event coordinator.

  • Closely collaborate with the Phoenix Community Engagement Coordinator to develop a strategy for Tucson’s advocacy and community engagement efforts, including developing standardized advocacy communication and engaging in advocacy efforts.

  • Comply with all IRC policies, procedures and protocols including adherence to the IRC Way and Child Safeguarding.

  • Other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in related field; graduate degree strongly preferred.

  • At least 3 years related professional experience in development, fundraising, and volunteer management in a non-profit or social services environment.

  • Demonstrated understanding of fiscal management and reporting.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated grant-writing experience.

  • Public speaking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with limited-English speakers and work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Advanced computer skills including word processing, database systems, and Microsoft Office Suite including Power Point.

  • Must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.

Working Environment

Standard office work environment combined with occasional need to work in and around the service delivery area and work outside standard office hours (evenings & weekends).
