Peace and Security Cluster

The UNOPS Peace and Security Cluster (PSC) is a principal service provider in the field of mine action with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), UNDP, UNICEF, Governments of mine-affected countries and other mine action partners.  It is led by the Director, who has overall authority and accountability for the performance PSC on behalf of its clients.  The Director is responsible for administering and providing oversight of the day-to-day management of the Project Field offices, both according to the client requirements and in line with UNOPS rules and regulations.

UNMAS is a substantive component of UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). It supports the
mission mandate, including reducing the danger from landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), along with information
sharing, marking and destruction of landmines and UXO.

Functional Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Associate Programme Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the following activities:
  • Assist the Programme Manager (PM) and Programme Officer (PO) in preparing reports, briefings, presentation and public information material;
  • Organize meetings and take minutes of project meetings;
  • Maintain records of project files and other supporting documents;
  • Assist in the scanning, copying of documents and maintain a proper filing system and document archives;
  • Provide support in managing petty cash, maintaining records and supporting documents;
  • Assist in the coordination and management of communications, ensuring that appropriate follow-up actions are taken;
  • Accompany senior colleagues to meetings with UN agencies, UN contractors and grantees, NGOs and other stakeholders as required; 
  • Assist in capacity building activities, as well as in the compilation and analysis of relevant data from such activities;
  • Any other duties as requested and tasked by the Associate Programme Officer/Programme Officer /Programme Manager.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education
  • A First-level University Degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) with one year of relevant experience; OR
  • A Secondary School Diploma (High School or equivalent) with five years of relevant experience is required.
Experience
  • Relevant experience is defined as experience performing operational transactions in support of general administration.
Language
  • Fluency in English, Arabic and Spanish (Read, Speak, Write) is required.
