Job Description

The Career Pathways Coordinator is responsible for direct service delivery and overall project management of the Career Pathways Program, with the goal of assisting refugee and other immigrant clients to move beyond entry-level jobs and to resume their professional careers in the USA. Career Pathways services include career counseling, enrollment in post-secondary and recertification programs, and advanced job placement. This role primarily serves as a broker between the client and the professional institutions in place to help participants move towards gainful employment in their desired career field.

Major Responsibilities:

Career Coaching

  • Recruit participants via outreach in the Dallas refugee and immigrant community.

  • Assess applicants to determine eligibility for enrollment.

  • Maintain a caseload of 50-75 Career Pathways clients per year.

  • Coach clients as they identify desired career pathway and connect them to available training and recertification programs.

  • Identify scholarships and other financial support opportunities to aid clients in their enrollment process.

  • Develop and maintain curricula for group sessions, orientations, and work readiness workshops.

  • Coordinate logistics planning for all group sessions and classes.

  • End goal is to place clients in higher skilled, higher wage jobs utilizing their new certification.

    Community Partnerships and Grantor Relations

  • Assume community leadership role in the career development space within the Dallas area refugee, immigrant, and job-seeking community. Establish and maintain partnerships with other poverty-alleviation agencies, educational institutions, employer partners, donors, and the greater IRC network.

  • Liaise between employers and clients to help clients secure gainful employment.

  • Collaborate with the IRC Dallas Economic Empowerment team and other staff to ensure that clients receive the comprehensive services.

  • Liaise with IRC Economic Empowerment Technical Advisors to ensure effective program delivery.

  • Recruit and manage volunteers.

  • Assist in proposal development activities in collaboration with team members, as needed.

    Service Documentation

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of program data to donors and all relevant parties.

  • Use IRC and program database(s) as assigned to track client services, outcomes, and metrics.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience working in social services and/or economic development required.

  • Experience in workforce development, counseling, social work, case management, or financial coaching fields strongly preferred

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Must demonstrate interest and cultural competency in working with individuals from all over the world who may be experiencing varying levels of economic hardship.

  • Strong verbal communication skills in English required.

  • Strong written skills, digital literacy, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.

  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities, data tracking systems, and client needs simultaneously. Strong time management and organizational skills are essential.

  • Experience using Evidence to Outcomes (ETO) data management system is a plus, but not required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.
Language Skills:  Proficiency in Spanish or other language represented by current client base is strongly preferred.
