Hillside Health Care International is a non-profit collaborative health clinic located in the Southern Toledo district of Belize. Hillside is a multi-disciplinary primary care clinic, providing therapy, medicine, nursing, public health, and pharmacy services. Hillside provides home health services to home bound members of the community, mobile clinic into remote villages, and a primary clinic. 

 

In addition to health services, Hillside provides year round global health experiences for students from all over the globe in the professions of physical therapy, medicine, PA, NP, pharmacy, and public health. 

 

The rehabilitation department has components of a CBR program in addition to providing clinical care in the outpatient and home health settings. While supervising students, the rehabilitation director is responsible for the daily management of the clinic including the rehabilitation technician. Daily activities range from direct patient care in the clinic or patient's homes, traveling to remote villages, and collaborating with various community organizations to increase public health awareness.

Required Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy/ physiotherapist academic program with at least 2 years clinical experience

  • Current physical therapy/physiotherapist license in good standing

  • Experience in or willingness to learn/apply Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) practice model.

  • Ability to precept physical therapy/physiotherapy graduate students.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Google Docs

Desirable Skills

  • Ability to practice in a diverse generalist setting

  • Interdisciplinary team experience

  • Experience in rural and/or underserved health care settings

  • Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills

  • Supervision and performance evaluation of support staff.

  • Good public speaking skills
