OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
  1. Assist the Communication and Information (CI) Unit in planning, managing, implementing, monitoring and reporting on key activities of the project.
  2. Assist the CI Unit to liaise with the various partners, including colleagues in Dili Antennae Office, to implement the projects and activities;
  3. Regularly monitor the progress of the project and notify the supervisor about any issues that may be hampering its implementation.
  4. Assist in the preparation of the evaluation, monitoring progress and reporting on the results of the project;
  5. Monitor and ensure that report and financial disbursements are in line with UNESCO’s rules and regulations and ensure their conformity to the work-plan;
  6. Monitor and collect on a regular basis, media coverage of the project as well as news concerning media self-regulation, press freedom, and journalism related issues especially in relation to the project;
  7. Assist in drafting press releases and news articles of projects/activities;
  8. Assist in preparing evaluation reports of project/activities including annual reports;
  9. Assist in organization and implementation of events such as workshops or conferences;
  10. When needed, prepare informal translations and act as interpreter (English/Bahasa Indonesia);
  11. Undertake field visits and missions when necessary;
  12. Perform any other professional duties deemed necessary by immediate supervisor;

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor Degree preferably in journalism, communication studies, public relation, or related field. 
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in project assistance and management with local and/or international organization(s);
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master Degree is desirable;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Indonesian; 
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple project partners;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyse complex issues;
  • Proven ability to draft documents and express views in a clear and concise manner including the ability to write press release/news articles as well as experience in managing social media campaign and websites are preferred;
  • Strong computer skills and internet literate;
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, and be a productive team player;
  • Knowledge of the UN system is an asset;
