Job Description

The IRC has worked in Liberia since 1996 and is one of the largest humanitarian actors in the country. The IRC Liberia currently operates health programs in Montserrado, Bong, Lofa, and Nimba counties. We have a varied portfolio in health, and women's protection and economic empowerment.

JOB OVERVIEW/SUMMARY:

The M&E Assistant will be based in Monrovia 70% of the time, and will travel to Lofa and Nimba counties to conduct field monitoring visits 30% of the time. They will provide support for all M&E functions for the Irish Aid-funded Raising Voices Project, a comprehensive community-based gender-based violence prevention and economic empowerment project. The M&E Assistant will be supervised by the Senior M&E Officer and will work closely with the WCPE Technical Coordinator. This position is responsible for ensuring the validity of data being collected and reported on.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The M&E Assistant will carry out a variety of tasks, including: 

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Support program staff with data collection utilizing paper-based and digital tools for routine data collection and an internal program evaluation.
  • Aggregate and clean data using standard Data Quality Audit (DQA) approaches and provide weekly updates and monthly reports on performance against project indicators.  
  • Support data quality assurance processes for all reports coming from communities through local partners, and staff, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide weekly and monthly progress reports, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Perform other project-specific duties as needed.

CLIENT FEEDBACK SUPPORT

  • Work with program staff to design and implement a client feedback system.
  • Enter de-identified client data into a tracking tool.

REPORTING

  • Submit weekly and monthly individual progress reports.
  • Assist program staff with preparing donor narrative reports by sharing data, preparing graphs, etc.

OTHER

  • Assure all M&E activities reflect the principles of GBV response and prevention, including confidentiality.
  • Work with the IRC Country Program M&E Team to periodically review and update COMET.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by Senior M&E Officer or WCPE Technical Coordinator

Qualifications

  • University Degree or Technical Diploma or its equivalent in Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • At least four years’ professional experience in monitoring and evaluation required; experience supporting M&E on women’s and child protection or economic empowerment projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with data collection, entry, and presentation required.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills
  • Good computer skills in MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • Personal qualities: Works well with others and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multicultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well, possesses excellent coordination and problem-solving skills
