Organizational Setting

The position is located at the FAO Representation in Georgia. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by the FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

The National Grant Analyst shall operate under the overall guidance and responsibility of the FAO Representative in Georgia; direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator for EU funded projecs in Georgia, and in close collaboration with other international and national consultants of the different FAO projects in Georgia and FAO Representation Office for Georgia.

Technical Focus

The National Grant Analyst will be integrated within the FAO team in charge of the grant component of FAO’s contribution to the ENPARD III program of the European Union. The Grant Analyst will be assigned some of the grant applications received through the program and will be fully responsible for them, from their analysis to the final impact evaluation.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Review of agricultural grant applications using established procedures and checklists.

  • Validate information included in the grant applications through secondary researches

  • Phone validation of key aspects of the applications directly with the applicants

  • Report all undertaken activities on the grant management system

  • Prepare “key facts” memo for each grant application to be presented to the Application Review Committee

  • Update a knowledge database summarising key information comprised in grant applications

  • Performance of standard operating procedures subsequent to the initial analysis, including but not limited to, equipment quotation verification, definition of the payment schedule, and follow-up and assistance to the applicant for all requested supporting documents.

  • Monitor the status of approved grants to ensure the full, timely utilization of all grant funds and compliance with the grant agreement.

  • Other duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree up to masters levels in management, economy or related field;

  • At least 2 years of relevant practical experience in grant projects

  • National of Georgia
  • Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Georgian, as all the duties will have to be performed in English
