Job Description

SCOPE OF INTERN:

This position is responsible for improving the lives of refugees and engaging community members through supporting the Donations Coordinator.  Specifically, for sourcing, tracking and reporting cash-in-kind donations. This role entails refining the inventory, tracking, valuation and distribution systems for the donations received by the IRC in Sacramento. The Donations Coordination Intern will be in charge of recruitment and receiving of donations, while also ensuring donors receive the proper acknowledgement for their contribution. The Donations Coordination Intern will lead the distribution of donations to clients in collaboration with caseworkers to ensure proper tracking and reporting are carried out.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with clients and staff to identify different client needs.
  • Create community facing information to increase the flow of targeted donations.
  • Collect donations. Distribute goods as available.
  • Organize donation drives in coordination with staff.
  • Increase community participation and empowerment in IRC Sacramento.
  • Keep dynamic records using CRMs, Salesforce and other programs.
  • Maintain online donation portals and keep up to date.
  • Work with local vendors to establish donations and sponsorships.
  • Source, track and report in-kind contributions.
  • Improve and streamline in-kind donations receiving, valuation, record keeping, reporting and acknowledgements
  • Collaborate across departments with staff, volunteers, community partners, and clients

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current undergrad, graduate student or recently graduated student with a focus in Economics, Finance, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills: the ability to work effectively with partners, donors, colleagues in a cross cultural, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time & meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work across departments towards measurable outcomes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel; ability to quickly learn CRM programs and associated software
  • Must be comfortable with communicating with clients and community partners on the phone and in person.
  • Valid driver’s license and a vehicle with valid insurance are required.

This position reports to the Volunteer & Donations Coordinator

  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • Work related driving is eligible for reimbursement at the charitable mileage rate.
  • Internships are available for current college students, graduate students, and graduates less than 2 years post-graduation.  Course credit and transcript notation are available if the student submits the appropriate paperwork to the Volunteer Specialist.
