Compliance Coordinator - SRO (National Position)

We are seeking a motivated professional individual to join our Syria Response Office’s team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’ degree in relevant university field (economics, public administration and similar) with an experience working in similar role in a humanitarian/recovery context. We are particularly looking for an individual with an experience in audit or compliance role, systematic mind-set, attention to detail and capability of structuring a large amount of information in an easy accessible way.
Duties and responsibilities
Generic responsibilities

1. Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at country and area level
2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements
3. Prepare and submit reports and analysis
4. Ensure proper filing of all type of documents
5. Support line managers in procedures and require support team trainings
6. Management of compliance team

 Specific responsibilities
 
1. Evaluate the soundness, adequacy, and effectiveness of operating policies, procedures, and controls, in the areas of programme, finance, HR, administration, and logistics and procurement and make recommendations for improvements in accordance with NRC’s operational standards as expressed in the various policy documents, handbooks and other guidelines.
2. Monitor compliance in the implementation of NRC’s policies, procedures and controls through regular spot checks, field visits and in-depth reviews.
3. In collaboration with programme and support staff, monitor and review the standard filing and referencing system, which ensures that complete documentation exists for all transactions.
4. In collaboration with regional office investigation team, Lead/Support in the investigation of allegations of suspected fraud or misconduct and produce required reports.
5. Provide support and follow up on the recommendations made in internal and external audits and evaluations.
6. Prepare compliance reports for each field area visit for submission to the line manager and ensure follow up/implementation of recommendations given
7. Support programme and finance teams to prepare for external audits.
8. Prepare/follow up with all units covering all area offices for donor audits
9. Conduct trainings on topics such as compliance inductions, anti-corruption trainings.
10. Develop or adapt training materials as necessary.
11. Give feedback on developed SOPs to ensure they are in line with NRC procedures
12. Ensure adherence with NRC operational standards across NRC Syria program
13. Ensure the adherence of NRC set regulations Syrian laws and best practice and advise accordingly
14. Lead on the monthly spot checks to ensure all operations covering all area offices adherence to the 15. Securing Supporting Documentation procedures (SSD) 
16. Lead on backlog projects assigned by Head of Support.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’ degree in relevant university field (economics, public administration and similar)
2. Experience from working in a similar role in a humanitarian/recovery context
3. Full proficiency in spoken and written English
4. Preferably an audit and/ or investigator qualification
5. Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
6. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
7. Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
