Organizational Setting

The position is located at the FAO Representation in Georgia. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by the FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources sustainably.

Reporting Lines


The Copy-editor shall operate under the overall responsibility of FAO Representative and Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia, direct supervision of the ENPARD Coordinator, and in close collaboration with the rest of the ENPARD team and other colleagues in the FAO Office in Georgia.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Edit and finalize draft reports for final clearance, in compliance with FAO corporate guidelines and organisational branding rules, to ensure grammatical accuracy, consistent and logical formatting.
  • Check the internal consistency of technical documents, including text, data, figures (including maps), tables and boxes;
  • Check cross-references and consistency of references in the text with the bibliographic reference list;
  • Improve the flow, clarity and quality of the language;
  • Correct grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and typos;
  • Ensure that FAOSTYLE has been applied and complied with;
  • Ensure that country names are correct (as per FAONOCS) and in the right order (alphabetical if no specified order or ranking);
  • Apply consistent styles to all headings types;
  • Flag any problems that require decisions relating to the substance of the work.
  • Other related tasks, as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • University degree in philology, linguistics/literature, communication or in the related field;
  • Three years of relevant experience and demonstrated ability to write, edit, or proofread reports for various audiences, with a portfolio that includes donor reports and other documents
  • English mother-tongue or with equal, demonstrated knowledge of the language based on prolonged permanence and/or studies carried out countries whose official language is English.
