SCA Background

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development Programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:

The Special Education Resource Person is responsible for arranging and conducting trainings for the public-school teachers, CBR Workers, and special and education teachers on special education (Sign Language or Braille). 

Qualifications & Requirements:

To be familiar with sign language teaching, for 12th class graduation will be preferred
For the people who has 1-year experience in sign language teaching and with hearing impaired disability, is giving priority.

Main Responsibilities:

Act according to the policy and regulations of SCA
Keep updated with issues related to SCA and the environment where SCA operates
Promote an attitude of team spirit and a strong focus on quality
Develop good co-operation with SCA units, authorities, institutions and other NGOs

Do related job as delegated by the special education officer, Senior Supervisor CBR or Project Manager

Technical Tasks

To provide special education trainings (Sign Language or Braille) for School Teacher, DP Special Education Teachers, Inclusive Education Resource Persons, SCA Education Staff and CBR Workers.
Collect, design, produce and update appropriate special education training materials in sign language or braille for all categories of trainees, however in coordination with special education officer.
Provide technical support and on job training in special education to DP Special Education Teacher (SET), and CBR Workers.
Select appropriate and useful method of training at different level.
Compile and keep copy of all training material, plans, schedules prepared and conducted within the project and provide to Special Education Officer with accurate and up-to-date information in this regard on monthly basis.
Work to ensure that the Program incorporates M&E results and lessons learnt from field operations to improve and develop program implementation strategies, methodologies, and results

Collect and disseminate good practice regarding special education on a local, national and international level

To participate actively into Special education trainings.

Tasks of inter organizational relation

Promote gender equality, non-discrimination about ethnic, political and religious background
To participate actively in workshops, seminars & conference organized by the SCA management

Promotes good coordination with other SCA projects Finance and Support units.

Tasks of relation with external agencies

Maintain good cooperative relation with the national and provincial authorities, DoLSA & MD, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders

To participate actively in ensuring broad understanding and acceptance by local communities of the DP projects and SCA in general.

Miscellaneous Tasks

To actively contribute to the successful development and good reputation of the SCA

To do any other duties assigned by the special education officer, senior supervisor CBR and DP Project Manager
