Security considerations
The Region enjoys a relatively low crime rate. Compared with recent years, there has been a relative decrease in general criminality. There is no direct crime threat against the UN in the region.

Proximity to the Syrian border has led to a security sensitive environment in South East Turkey since the Syrian conflict began. The increasing involvement of parties to the conflict have worsened the situation, and the security levels in all of Turkey were raised in early 2016. Sanliurfa duty station is Security Level 3. There are no known direct security-related threats towards the UN and its staff in the area though the security environment is prone to rapid changing.

UN staff in Sanliurfa are advised to increase their precaution measures in general; good security awareness is needed by individual staff members.

Being settled outside of the South Anatolian Fault Line, the Region is exposed to a moderate threat of earthquake. The closing date of the  job opening is 31 January 2020.
