JOB PURPOSE:  Receive flight bookings from eligible agencies (UN, Diplomatic Missions, Media, and NGOs) for travelling with WFP AFO flights.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

Under the direct supervision of the Aviation Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Making Flight Manifests for all the WFP AFO flights to different destinations.
  • Provide flight information, flight confirmation, via e-mail/phone to the concerned agencies.
  • Communicate with the agencies regarding the WFP AFO procedures and update them accordingly on new procedures.
  • Distribute the WFP AFO tickets one day before the flight to the passengers and confirm the flight reporting and departure times.  
  • Prepare the airport manifest and give complete information about the passengers’ payment and flying status to WFP AFO staff to the checking desk at the airport.
  • Receive the airport checking manifests and updating the office database, specifying no-shows and cancellations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and request flight reports for the Air Operation Officers.
  • Prepare the WFP AFO financial receipts and reports.
  • Perform any other related duty as may be required by WFP Management.

Educational Requirements:

GCE Advanced Level

A Commercial pilot license; navigator license; air traffic control license; flight operations officer; License Dispatch Officer License; Loadmaster certification or aircraft loader/handler certification or equivalent is required.

Working Languages:

Fluency (level C) in English and good working knowledge of French.

Essential Experience:

At least one (1) year of relevant professional experience in the aviation industry.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Experience in restricted flying zones, and other aviation risks and assisting in flight planning.
  • Experience in handling passenger manifests and aircraft loading.
  • Experience in interpreting routine weather reports.
  • Experience in basic flight following and radio telephony procedures
